the run and doing different things,

ST. Omar Infante Royals Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The World Series champion Boston Red Sox lost their 10th straight game for their worst slide in 20 years, and brawled with the Tampa Bay Rays during an 8-5 defeat Sunday. Rays pinch-hitter Sean Rodriguez connected for a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the seventh. Yunel Escobar hit a two-run double later in the inning and then took third on defensive indifference, setting off the fracas. Escobar, Rodriguez and Bostons Jonny Gomes were all ejected. This is Bostons longest losing streak since an 11-game skid from June 8-19, 1994. The Red Sox have been outscored 52-24 over their last 10 games. Boston will try to end the drought on Monday afternoon in a game at Atlanta. Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run single with two outs in the Boston ninth off Josh Lueke. Grant Balfour got his ninth save by retiring Dustin Pedroia on a grounder. Gomes pulled Boston even at 3 with two-run, pinch-hit homer in the seventh off Joel Peralta (2-3). It was Gomes eighth pinch-hit home run. After Craig Breslow (2-1) walked pinch-hitter Desmond Jennings and gave up Evan Longorias single to start the seventh, Rodriguez gave the Rays a 6-3 advantage with his first pinch-hit homer. Escobar doubled and easily took third without a throw on the first pitch to Jose Molina. Escobar got into a yelling match with the Boston dugout and had to be restrained just before both benches and bullpens emptied. The sides gathered around third base for a short session that mostly involved pushing and shoving. Longoria hit a leadoff homer and Logan Forsythe had an RBI single as the Rays took a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Longorias opposite-field drive to right off Brandon Workman was his first since May 6. Wil Myers made it 3-1 on a run-scoring grounder in the fifth. Workman, recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket before the game to replace injured left-hander Felix Doubront (strained left shoulder), gave up three runs and five hits over five innings in his first big league start this season. He made three relief appearances with Boston earlier this year before being optioned to Pawtucket on April 8. Rays starter Jake Odorizzi allowed one run and four hits in six innings. The Red Sox went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position against the right-hander. Boston had runners on second and third with no outs in the third, but scored just once for a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Brock Holt. NOTES: Boston put 1B Mike Napoli on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained finger on his left hand. ... Rays RHP Jeremy Hellickson (arthroscopic right elbow surgery) threw batting practice for the second and is set to pitch in an simulated game Wednesday. He expects to return before the All-Star break. ... Tampa Bay 2B Ben Zobrist (dislocated left thumb) hit against Hellickson and hopes to come off the disabled list next weekend. ... Boston manager John Farrell said Ortiz will play first base in at least once in the two-game interleague series against the Braves. Troy Tulowitzki Jersey . -- Evgeni Malkin scored the tying goal during a power play in the third period and Brandon Sutter got the deciding goal in a six-round shootout, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. Edwin Encarnacion Jersey . Today, Craig looks at some trends that emerged from the quarterfinals. HBI 1. What went wrong for USA? In the wake of another failure to reach the semifinals - the fourth time in seven years for the U.FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Bart Scott was once a favourite of Jets fans with his hard hits, big plays and colorful comments. Now, theyre taking shots at each other. The chatty linebacker has struggled with a hyperextended toe that has limited his production, and fans have made it clear that theyre not happy with the teams 4-7 record. A video posted on Deadspin.com showed a group of angry fans screaming obscenities and insults at the players as they walked off the field at MetLife Stadium at halftime of the Jets game against the New England Patriots last Thursday night. Scott, when asked about the video, told the Daily News that the harsh fans who yell at you were probably "picked last in dodgeball all through high school." He also told Newsday that they probably couldnt make it through "a high school practice." Well, coach Rex Ryan needed to set Scott straight Thursday. "Youve got to appreciate our fans," Ryan said he told Scott. "Obviously, in the good times its much easier than in the bad times, so I had that conversation with Bart." Blogs and sports talk radio have been hot the past few weeks with fans frustrated with Ryan, general manager Mike Tannenbaum, owner Woody Johnson and just about every player as the Jets appear headed to a second straight season without a playoff appearance. "What I said Ill stay behind: that our fans deserve better," Ryan said. "And I was the first guy that would say that. With us, what I mentioned to Bart, you have to appreciate the fans. The thing that makes this game so great is the players and the fans, and thats the truth." Ryan is speaking from experience after he was fined $75,000 for cursing at a fan last season and received a $50,000 fine for making an obscene hand gesture to a fan at a mixed martial arts event in Florida in 2010. "I learned from it and I think the team learned from it, we keep our heads down and go right in the locker room," Ryan said. "Obviously I made a huge mistake there. I hope I wasnt the only one that learned from it. Just go in, and people are entitled to what they want to say." Scott didnt apologize for his comments Thursday, but appeared to soften his stance. "Of course, Im going to protect my team and protect my orgganization, but I understand that they pay good money," Scott said. David Price Jersey. "Im well aware of that. Its freedom of speech. You can say what you want as long as nobody gets physical or puts their hands on you." Scott, obviously, isnt OK with everything fans say or do, using the example of hearing about former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Tommy Maddox once having garbage dumped on his lawn by fans. He also said he read that someone said hed "probably be unemployed on the streets" if he didnt play football. "Id like to think that my economic degree would get me some type of job," he said. "There are certain perceptions about athletes whether theyre warranted or not. But I know what and who I am and Im comfortable in my own skin." He also pointed out that many players often have their wives, children, family members and friends in the stands during games who are subjected to the negative comments. "But I guess thats what we sign up for," he said. "Were public figures and we open ourselves up to criticism. That comes with the territory. Thats fine." Scott wanted to make it clear that the players are not in any way satisfied with losing, and they are just as disappointed by bad losses such as the one to the Patriots on national television. "We didnt put 40 hours of work coming in here and practicing, going through game plans," he said, "to go out there and embarrass ourselves and let our teammates down and our coaching staff down and let our city down." Scott later said his comments from the previous day were just him "being defensive" and that fans know who he really is, pointing out the extensive charity work he does. "You cant judge somebody by the three hours that you see in shoulder pads and helmet," he said. Scott was regularly one of the Jets top tacklers during his first seasons with the Jets, but ranks seventh (44) this season with less playing time while dealing with his toe injury. Ryan raved about Scotts leadership qualities and how he wants him to be healthy so he can play more often. "The way hes attacking the run and doing different things, Bart doesnt hurt us," Ryan said. "Lets put it this way: He helps us." Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
