I was wrong when I hadnt even seen the replay.

MILWAUKEE -- Cardinals starters are feeling right at home on the mound at Miller Park. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Black . A night after Lance Lynn shutout the Brewers, fellow hard-throwing right-hander Shelby Miller followed Tuesday by striking out seven and allowing three hits over six innings to lead St. Louis to a 6-1 win. Mark Ellis had two RBIs in his return from the disabled list, while Matt Holliday and Jhonny Peralta each hit solo shots in the ninth for the Cardinals, who handed Milwaukee its second straight loss following a nine-game winning streak. Miller (1-2) routinely fired fastballs clocked into the mid-90s past hitters before turning the game over to the bullpen in the seventh. He bounced back after starting the year with two losses and a 6.35 ERA in his first two starts. "That looks more like Shelby. The velocity was there," manager Mike Matheny said. Only Aramis Ramirez managed to break through off Miller hitting a solo homer in the fourth. "Sneaky fast. Hes throwing. Its not only sneaky ... he spots his fastball really well on the outside corner, inside," Ramirez said. "Hes going to come right at you, so weve got to make some adjustments." They didnt make enough of them Tuesday. The Brewers have just one run and six hits over the first two games of the three-game set with their NL Central rival. Marco Estrada (1-1) took the loss after allowing three runs over six innings. The right-hander, who was off to a good start with a 2.31 ERA entering Tuesday, had a little uncharacteristic trouble with his command. He hit a batter in the second, then issued a walk in the third to Matt Carpenter that set up Allen Craigs RBI double. Estrada also threw a wild pitch in the fourth, but did allow just five hits. "When they battle like that and keep the team in the ballgame, thats their job. Theyre not going to feel good every time out," manager Ron Roenicke said. It would have been more than adequate pitching during the Brewers long winning streak. But that was before Milwaukee had to face the aces from St. Louis. Lynn was in control Monday night after striking out 11 over seven innings. Miller was just as effective. He got Jean Segura to ground out to second and caught Ryan Braun looking on a 94 mph fastball to start the fourth. The only mistake was a fastball down the middle of the plate that Ramirez turned on for his second homer and team-best 12th RBI. Miller recovered nicely to end the fourth by getting Jonathan Lucroy to hit a one-hopper to first. Miller, who improved to 4-0 career against the Brewers, had a 2.03 career ERA against Milwaukee entering Tuesday. "A lot of power in that lineup. Really throughout the whole lineup is pretty solid, so the biggest thing you do is try and keep them off balance as much as possible," Miller said. The Cardinals had built a 3-0 lead by the top of the fourth to back Miller. After missing the seasons first 13 games with left knee tendinitis, Ellis made a nice debut by driving in a run in the second on a groundout, and another in the fourth off a sacrifice fly. "Mark did a great job -- all the little things we talk about," Matheny said. NOTES: Kolten Wong had started 12 of the teams first 13 games at second until Ellis rejoined the club. Manager Mike Matheny said he didnt necessarily have a plan on how he would split playing time. "We just watch how hes going, watch how Koltens going," Matheny said. "Realize that we have a very, very good option there at second base and just kind of take it day by day." ... The Cardinals were 8-1 on Tax Day since 2005 entering Tuesdays game. ... Brewers manager Ron Roenicke managed his 500th career game to become the sixth skipper in franchise history to reach that plateau with the organization. ... The teams wrap up the three-game set with a Wednesday matinee. The Cardinals Joe Kelly (1-0) will be opposed by the Brewers Wily Peralta (1-0) on the mound.Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 For Sale . Kerry Fraser wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca! Hey Kerry, In regards to Tuesdays Leafs-Panthers game - Why was Joffrey Lupuls goal disallowed when he was being pushed forward from behind and was clearly not kicking it in the net but kicking it to his stick? Are there exceptions to the "kicking motion" rule? Dave Vincent --- Dave: Here is the official ruling in an email from the NHL situation room on the play: At 19:35 of the first period in the Panthers/Maple Leafs game, video review (watch here) determined that Joffrey Lupul kicked the puck into the net with his left skate. According to rule 49.2 "A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net." No Goal Toronto. Dave, there is no exemption to allow for player intent once the puck has propelled into the net with a distinct kicking motion. (i.e. intended to kick the puck to his stick.) In addition, a kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player (including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal. [49.2 i)] There are only two situations where a kicked puck can result in the legal scoring of a goal: - [49.2 ii)] A kicked puck that deflects off the stick of any player (excluding the goalkeeper) shall be ruled a good goal. - [49.2 iii)] A goal will be allowed when an attacking player kicks the puck and the puck deflects off his own stick and then into the net. There is one other situation that I should mention for future consideration because if I dont it will happen for sure. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks any equipment (stick, glove, helmet, etc.) at the puck, including the blade of his own stick, causing the puck to cross the goal line. The minor push that Joffrey Lupul received from Panthers defenceman Mike Weaver had no bearing on the criteria as to whether there was a distinct kicking motion demonstrated by Lupul. Had it been ruled that Lupul was cross-checked or fouled from behind the goal would still not be allowed but the minor penalty would be assessed. In this case Weaver committed no such foul and the initial call on the ice was reversed through video review to disallow the goal. One of the benefits of instant replay is that they can freeze frame the action and determine if the attacking players stick contacted the puck following a distinct kicking motion. One night in the Philadelphia Spectrum, prior to the implementation of video review, I had no such luxury. Before the game I entered the Spectrum press lounge (as I always did in every arena) to get a coffee and pick up a copy of the game press notes to do mmy pre-game scouting. Adidas Superstar White Womens. . The information listed usually provided valuable information as to what had happened in previous meetings between the two teams (especially animosity that might carry over), any special player milestones, who was hot and who was not! In my pre-game research I read that power forward Tim Kerr of the Philadelphia Flyers was mired in scoring slump. While his drought had only lasted 8-10 games it was akin to being stranded in the Gobi Desert without water over that time for this prolific goal scorer. Aside from his status as a scorer, Tim Kerr was one of the nicest, most gentlemanly players that I ever encountered on or off the ice. During the game Tim Kerr was racing toward the net and at the top of the goal crease received a pass in his skates which he kicked toward his outstretched stick. There was no alteration to the pucks path following the kick and from my position it appeared that Kerr had missed contacting the puck with his stick blade. I immediately disallowed the goal due to the kick of the puck. Tim Kerr, the player I had always found to be so mild mannered and gentlemanly, unloaded on me with an uncontrollable attack of profanity and disdain for the call I had just made. Given the aforementioned knowledge I had of Tims scoring draught, coupled with the fact that this tirade was totally out of character for Tim I did not overreact by assessing the Flyer a misconduct penalty. Instead, I endured his outburst and quickly moved away from the player in an attempt to defuse the heat of the situation. To demonstrate what a gentleman Tim Kerr was (and is) he calmly approached me on his very next shift. Tim sincerely apologized for his outburst. At the end of his apology Tim quietly added this postscript; "Kerry, I just want you to know that I did tick the puck with the end of my stick blade before it crossed the goal line." I said, "Tim, you are an honest man and if you said that you tipped that puck then it did happen and I am truly sorry for missing it; especially knowing how the puck has not been bouncing your way lately." Tim told me not to worry about it and that sooner or later he would get back on track. It unfortunately didnt that night but it wasnt too long afterward that this tremendous power forward and great guy was filling the net again. Following the game Bob Clarke, Flyers G.M. asked me to have a look at the video of the Tim Kerr disallowed goal. I told Clarkie I would love to see the play with him to learn how I could have misjudged the stick touch. Bob Clarke then asked me how I knew I was wrong when I hadnt even seen the replay. My response to Bob Clarke was; "Because Tim told me so and I know Tim Kerr to be an honest man!" Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
