Norway won both cross-country sprints on Tuesday at the Sochi 2014 Olympics, with Ola Vigen Hattestad winning a crash-filled mens event, while Maiken Caspersen Falla took gold on the womens side. Wholesale Cheap Jerseys . Hattestad managed to avoid the carnage midway through the mens final, as a crash took out three skiers, essentially leaving two men vying for gold. The Norwegian posted a time of 3:38.39, outlasting Swedens Teodor Peterson, who took silver with a time of 3:39.61. Fellow Swede Emil Joensson ended up with the bronze, well back at 3:58.13. Norwegians took gold and silver in the womens sprint. Falla finished in first in a time with 2:35.49, and her teammate Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg just stretched for the silver medal over Russias Vesna Fabjan. Oestberg finished in 2:35.87, and Fabjan ended up with a time of 2:35.89. U.S. skier Kikkan Randall, who was gunning to become the first American to win gold in cross country, made a surprising exit in the quarters of the womens sprint, after finishing fourth in the deepest heat of the round. Norways Marit Bjoergen, who won the skiathlon on Saturday and was the defending Olympic champion in this event, was eliminated in the semis. No Canadians advanced to the semifinals of either event. Alex Harvey was Canadas best hope for a medal in the mens event, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals, finishing fourth in his heat. Harvey, of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, Que., needed to finish in the top-two of his heat or post one of the two best times out of the rest of the competitors to advance. He finished the race with a time of 3:37.89. Canadians Devon Kershaw, Jesse Cockney and Len Valjas all failed to crack the top 30 in the qualifying round and didnt advance. Kershaw finished in 56th, Cockney in 53rd, and Valjas in 36th. Two Canadian women advanced to the quarter-finals, but couldnt get through their heats. Daria Gaiazova of Banff, Alta., finished fifth in the second grouping, and Perianne Jones of Almonte, Ont., placed fifth in the final heat. Chandra Crawford, Canadas 2006 Olympic champion in the event, finished out of the top 30 in the qualifying round and didnt advance to the quarter-finals, placing 44th. Teammate Heidi Widmer finished just ahead of Crawford in 43rd. Canadian coach helps Russian out Though Canada was shut out of the medals, the Canadian cross-country teams head coach received a cheer from the crowd. Justin Wadsworth handed Russias Anton Gafarov a spare ski during the first heat of the mens semifinal. Gafarov crashed during the heat and broke his ski in the process, and despite being out of the race he was determined to finish the race. As he laboured, Wadsworth ran onto the slope, handing the Russian a spare ski so he could continue the course and cross the finish line. Wholesale Jerseys China . 5 Baylor wiped out a 21-point deficit in the final 11 minutes to beat No. 9 TCU 61-58 on Saturday. Wholesale NFL Jerseys . -- The streaking Houston Texans are gaining confidence by the victory.SAN FRANCISCO -- Mario Manningham decided to sign with the San Francisco 49ers before he even knew if Peyton Manning or Alex Smith would be throwing him passes. He was attracted by the punishing defence, the strong running game and a coaching staff he trusted. The 49ers announced Thursday that Manningham had signed a two-year deal to join the team he helped knock out in the NFC championship game two months ago in their latest offensive upgrade at wide receiver. Manningham agreed to the deal last Saturday when the 49ers were in the thick of the race to sign Manning, the four-time NFL MVP and brother of his old quarterback with the New York Giants, two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning. Peyton Manning ended up choosing to sign with Denver and the Niners brought back Alex Smith. "I wanted to go there and I knew that Peyton Manning was going to go somewhere. I thought he was coming to the 49ers but he didnt," Manningham said. "He went to Denver. Good luck to him with that. I wish the best for him. We got Alex Smith and I know hes a great player. "I knew (playing with Manning) was a possibility but I wasnt picking them because of that. I know Peyton Manning is a great quarterback and everything but if you dont have a good defence ... offence can be potent but theres really no point." The 49ers defence was one of the best last season and played a big part in the teams 13-3 record and trip to the NFC title game that ended with a 20-17 overtime loss to Manningham and the New York Giants. San Francisco has now made moves to improve the offence, especially at wide receiver, where Manningham and fellow newcomer Randy Moss will join Michael Crabtree in a unit that should help Smith develop even more as a potent passer. Crabtree was the only 49ers wideout to catch more than 20 passes last season. "I feel like I can come there and make an impact and be a great addition to this offence," Manningham said. Manningham has 160 catches for 2,315 yards and 18 touchdowns in his four-year career after being drafted oout of Michigan in the third round in 2008. Wholesale Jerseys. He was limited to 12 games last year because of injuries and had only 39 catches for 523 yards and four scores in his least productive season since his rookie year. "We are very pleased to add a player like Mario to our team," general manager Trent Baalke said. "Although it is still early in his NFL career, he is a productive wide receiver with a lot of big game experience. He will be a nice complement to our current wide receiver group and a good fit for our offensive system." Manningham took off in the post-season, catching TD passes in wins over Atlanta and Green Bay to get New York to the NFC title game. He then had a go-ahead 17-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of the Giants overtime win over San Francisco to get to the Super Bowl and capped the post-season with a memorable catch. His over-the-shoulder 38-yard catch between two defenders, on which he managed to stay inbounds and hold onto the ball despite being hit, started the game-winning, 88-yard touchdown drive for the Giants. But despite that, New York showed little interest in keeping Manningham, who ultimately picked San Francisco over St. Louis. "Thats the business part about this system, about football. I would have wanted to come back to the team that I started with. I won a Super Bowl with those guys," he said. "This is my new team now." Having played the Niners in both the regular season and playoffs this past season, Manningham knows how good San Francisco is on defence. The 49ers led the league in run defence and forced turnovers and were second in scoring defence. That entire starting unit is expected back in 2012 with cornerback Carlos Rogers and linebacker Ahmad Brooks re-signing and safety Dashon Goldson getting the franchise tag. "They swarm, theyll hit you and theyll cover you," Manningham said. "I feel like they have the best linebacking corps in the league. They have athletic defensive backs, d-line, theyre all really good. Its a great defence out there." wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys nfl cheap cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '
