Dungeon Bidding System - Explained

I've seen numerous posts about this on both Dojo and here. Thus Blade-Soul felt like I would try to enlighten everyone with what is my understanding -- and please do correct me if I'm wrong -- of the Dungeon Bidding System.

What you bid is your money that is split between the other members of your party. To give an example it would be like this:

Party Members are Joe, Jim, Jessie, Jack.

Item drops! It's a Dumpling! Vendor value is 1c

- Everyone passes. The value of 1c is split between all members: I.E. 1c each.

Item drops! It's a Dumpling! Auction House Value is 20c

- Everyone passes. The value of 20c is split between all members.

Now a slightly different approach.

Item drops! It's a Vegetable Dumpling! Item Value is 1c

- Joe and Jessie pass, but Jack and Jim really want that Vegetable Dumpling.

- Jack bids 50c (This is the important part). The Item Value is now 50c

- Jim does not want to spend 50c and thus Jim Passes

- Jack pays 50c that is split between Joe, Jessie, and Jim. Jack gets a Vegetable Dumpling!

Seems pretty simple yeah? Lets toss one more example in there.

Item drops! -gasp- it's another Dumpling! Item Value is 1c

- Jack passes, but now Joe, Jessie, and Jim want that white succulent goodness.

- Jessie bids 20c. Item Value is 20c

- Jim didn't bid fast enough so now he has to re-enter his bid. Jim bids 25c. Item Value is 25c

- Joe was on the ball this time. Joe bids 30c. Item value is 30c

- Jessie passes, but now Jim is contemplating and the clock is ticking down. Time runs out - automatically causes Jim to pass.

- Joe wins the bid. Joe pays 30c that is split between Jessie, Jim, and Jack. Joe gets that white succulent goodness.
