What If the Occupant of Sgr A* Isn’t a Supermassive Black Hole?

In the last couple of years, we have learned a lot about black holes. On April the 10th, 2019, we got our first official image of a black. And in 2020, two talented physicists received Nobel Prize for discovering that Sagittarius A* is a supermassive high-density object. Yes, we are speaking about Andrea Ghez and Reinhard Genzel. The term Sagittarius A* mentioned here is nothing but the name given to the center of our Milky Way galaxy. The only known explanation for the cause of such a massive object has been pinned down to black holes.

However, a new theory has been put forward. It alludes to the fact that the whole theory regarding the center of the Milky Way might be wrong. And, we have to consider the possibility that the supermassive black hole that we think occupies the space at the center of our galaxy might be a cluster of dark matter instead. Well, we don’t fully understand black holes, and dark matter is also an esoteric concept. So, instead of solving the equation, we might have just switched mysteries.

In any case, a group of researchers working for ICRA (an acronym for International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics) have found some evidence. They have put forward a theory supported by some evidence that at the center of our galaxy is not something we call “black holes,” but instead, there is a mass of dark matter. They have explained everything along with providing some evidence in the magazine “MNRAS: Letters.” MNRAS is an acronym for “Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.” In the published academic paper, the team expounds on the theory along with offering some testable evidence. They have also personally verified the evidence with testing, and it stood up to the theory.

For several decades, many scientists such as Stephen Hawking have shared consensus over the existence of black holes. It was predicted by the Einstein General Theory of Relativity but was discovered several years later. And, scientists are also quite confident that one such supermassive black hole exists at the center of our galaxy, “Milky Way.” The location of the center has been dubbed as “Sagittarius A*” or “Sgr A*” for short. Of course, you can never see a black hole through a telescope, but you can see its effect on its nearby surroundings. A black hole is essentially an object in space with such intense gravity that even light cannot escape. And, thus no one can see the black hole.

However, it doesn’t. They don’t exist. There is mathematical data, telescopic data, and even a piece of photographic evidence proving their existence.

However, this team of researchers has argued that dark matter can produce the same effect on the bodies in proximity. They have alluded to the fact that if you substitute blackholes with dark matter mass, you can fix some anomalies observed at the center of the milky way.

One of the anomalies that are relevant here is the finding in 2014. Some scientists were left astounded when they observed that a gas cloud was easily moving without any disturbance in the proximity of the black hole. If all the theories are correct, this is just impossible.

Now, the researchers of ICRA have used this as an example to pinpoint that the center of the Milky Way is made of dark matter mass. They theorize that the black theory doesn’t hold its ground with the 2014 finding. They have also expounded in the paper that the whole galaxy would safely run if you interchange black holes with dark matter.

And, in the end, the researchers have predicted that the dark matter cluster is expected to be made up of darkinos. Darkinos is a subatomic particle existing in the same group as Fermions. They concluded that if you put a lot of darkinos in one place, you will get something that behaves like a black hole. They even shared simulation data. However, the exceptional characteristics of darkinos balls could be stated as the extreme characteristics of dark matter.
