Reasons Why Planet Of The Apes Should get A TV Series

Movies are the medium that allows the audiences to enter the unimaginable worlds that are not possible to experience in the real world. Yet some films do not always give enough space to the content to grow, which can be accomplished by a TV series. Planet of The Apes is a beautiful movie, and the expanding version of the content can be beautifully created as the series. However, the decision of making it a TV show could also be a wrong call.

Planet of the Apes is an American science fiction movie franchise, which consists of books, films, comics, television series, and other media. The franchise is based on the French novel titled La Planete des singes, which was written by Pierre Boulle in 1963. The first time the novel was adapted into a film in 1968, and titled Planet of the Apes. The film was a commercial and critical hit. After the success, Arthur P. Jacobs produced five movies in the franchise through APJAC Productions for 20th Century Fox distributor. The first four movies from the franchise are Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The four installments were box office hits but could not satisfy the critics. After the fifth movie, the plans for the sixth project underwent development hell, and Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes was released after ten years. And the franchise resumed by back to back the release of Rising of the “Planet of the Apes” in 2014, and War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017. The films collected a gross of $ 2 billion worldwide, over a combined budget of $ 567 million.

Prequels, Sequels, and Anthology (Should)

There are many opportunities to make an episodic series. A series can be in the form of a prelude, follow-up, or even in anthology style. The sequence of the Planet of the Apes does not necessarily mean that it would follow the same story or plot. The creator might go far beyond what the audiences might have already seen. They could present a prequel with a piece of new information each season.

Already Done (Should Not)

There is a problem with Hollywood. They oversaturate the prequel and sequel of the movie. Although the franchise of Planet of the Apes never disappoints its audiences, the team has a stunning and crowd-pleasing fashion in every new prequel or sequel. So again creating content on the sequel or prequel might not be the smartest idea. The franchise already has four sequels, a reboot, and a prequel trilogy. The fans could hope that Hollywood will quit preserving the existing material.

New Film (Should)

Disney has confirmed that a new Planet of the Apes film is releasing. Now whether the series is oversaturated or ruins the existing material and this might sound alarming. If the movie ends up being the perfect piece and works as some oracle, exploring the growing landscape that the movie suggests, then it is a success.

1974 Series (Should Not)

The motto of Hollywood is “If you do not succeed at first, try, try again.” If a show or series doesn't work, the creators wait for one or two years and then give it another try. The team of POTA might also walk on the same path. When the first series of the franchise was released in 1974, it was poorly received by audiences, and after some time they released an animated show which was even less well-received.

Ape and Human Conflict (Should)

The most crucial sequel in the Planet of the Apes is how they handled the apes and the humans. And all the parts have a different look into the conflict of apes and humans. From showing the nature of humans as animalistic to creating both the species similar, the list is endless. The series can develop the content according to the conflict that gives the audience new characters interactions and new light.

Character Problem (Should Not)

The conflict between apes and humans is pretty interesting and worth watching, but that could also lead to problems and complications if not done right. One of the biggest problems in Hollywood is they become cliche after a point. If the amazing conflict sequences do not have well-defined characters, then all the characters will blend with the same quality and characteristics.
