YouTube Will Allow Users to Sync Downloads With the Same Accounts on Multiple De

One of the most distinctive features that YouTube offered its premium users was the ability to download video from the platform to play it offline later. However, with the video-sharing platform continually introducing new exciting updates in the app, a recent report suggests that it is currently testing another great feature. This new update will allow the users to sync downloads across different devices in which the same user account has been signed in.

According to the reports, the platform has tested out this feature's extension recently, and it was live in beta as well as the stable Android app versions. Users can use this new feature by going to the “Settings” of the app and then tapping on the “Cross Device Offline Settings” menu. On clicking, a popup notification will appear on the screen asking the user which device they want to sync with the toggle option. Users can then click “Allow Downloading to this Device.”

However, when this feature was later tested out using two Android devices, it was surprisingly not there and thus didn't work. This resulted in an argument among the analysts about whether the platform has only partially released this feature for testing purposes right now or whether it has wholly withdrawn it. Nevertheless, the latter case seems to be relatively implausible since this cross-device download feature was earlier detected in the Android app's beta versions.

Back in 2018, reports suggested that a code related to cross-device synchronization had been detected when the tech analysts scrutinized a “dismantled” version of the YouTube app. And, after more than two years, since the analysts have spotted this feature again, they are hoping that maybe the company is now ready to release this update finally for all YouTube users.

Considering how big an Android market exists in India, this feature will undoubtedly enjoy a vast user volume. However, the platform may limit its usage and functionalities to only people who own multiple Android devices. As of now, there are no reports regarding whether users can only sync downloads with Android smartphones and tablets, or they can also do so with other devices like Android Smart TVs.

Wrapping it Up

Google is always seen making constant efforts to offer a better user experience than ever, and its popular video-streaming platform, YouTube, is no exception. The second-largest search engine, YouTube, has been rolling out pretty exciting updates and introduced many changes over the course of the last few years.

This time, it is reportedly testing a new inter-device synchronization feature in the beta versions of its Android apps to let people sync their downloaded videos across multiple devices where they are logged in with the same account.

While the company has not made any official announcement yet, this feature is expected to be rolled out soon to the general public.
