Facebook VR is Surprisingly Much More Than Just Gaming

Are you a big fan of online virtual reality games? Well, this is going to intrigue you pretty much. Facebook has announced a new virtual reality headset named Oculus Quest 2, offering you sharp screen and powerful computing.

Interestingly, the new Oculus Quest 2 is not just gaming, but a lot more than that, as Facebook mentioned. It is a wireless headset released to make the relationship between online gaming and the audience ever-lasting. Facebook has also announced that certain apps like the Infinite Office VR Workplace will require a Facebook login for future Oculus devices.

Many consumers seem to be tense about their privacy and data due to the mandatory link to Facebook. However, virtual reality and augmented reality are the most data-extractive digital sensors that you can take home.

Now, the big question arises: why Facebook introduced virtual reality headsets? Many of you must be aware that Facebook obtained the VR company named Oculus in 2014 for billions of dollars. The main goal of Oculus was to target the gamers; however, Mark Zuckerberg had different plans and wanted to introduce it to the social media world.

At the annual virtual reality developer conference in 2019, Zuckerberg quoted that “Facebook sees VR as a pathway to a new kind of social computing platform.” At that moment, the statement didn't mean much as the big plans were yet to be revealed.

The new era VR will offer you a lifestyle packed with entertainment, learning, connecting with people, and much more. As assumed, Facebook is working on the VR future in its lab, it is likely to have a link with the social computing platform it already holds.

A VR headset is allowed to gather information not only about the user but also its surroundings. VR deals with the standard of how you move your body. Each one of those movements of your body can recognize you just as a fingerprint, so all you do in VR could be effortlessly followed back to your individuality. Facebook's reason for collecting such data is to ease its way out to augmented reality (AR). While VR takes you to a completely virtual environment, AR combines the imagination with reality. That sounds way interesting!

Facebook still has likely rivalry, especially from Apple and Sony - the former is reported to construct an AR or VR headset, and the latter may invigorate its PlayStation VR along with the PlayStation 5.

Now, Oculus is as yet the brand name of the VR headsets Facebook sells, and the organization keeps up that the brand isn't going anywhere. However, it appears that Facebook is planning to bring the brand underneath its wing.
