How to Reset and Unpair an Apple Watch?

Apple Watch is one of the smartest gadgets out there provided by Apple Inc. When you want to restore the watch to its factory settings, then you will have to reset and unpair it. In this process, you need to back-up all the existing data to another device and deactivate screen and device lock both. Take a full backup of all your necessary data before resetting or unpairing your wearable device. Follow these straightforward instructions to unpair your Apple Watch:

Unpairing Apple Watch through Watch App

Below are the complete guidelines to unpair your Apple Watch via Watch app. Follow each step carefully to easily unpair your device:

  • At the start, launch the Apple Watch app on your device.
  • Then, hit the All Watches option situated at the uppermost section of the My Watch screen.
  • Now, press the “info” tab located at the right-hand side section of your wearable device.
  • Next, choose the option “Unpair Apple Watch.”
  • Then, verify the entire procedure by tapping the option “Unpair.”
  • In case you are using mobile services, then select the Keep or remove your plan accordingly.
  • Then, deactivate the Activation Lock by typing your secured Apple ID passcode.
  • Then, press the Unpair option there.
  • Wait a while; your wearable device will start backing up all the recent data directly to your iPhone. When it finishes backing-up, the gadget will unpair automatically from your existing iPhone.
  • Now, you need to remove all the current Bluetooth pairings and delete all the Apple Pay cards that you have used previously through the Watch device. It's always better to delete all the associated secured passcodes for security and assurance. At last, your wearable device will automatically restore itself to the factory settings.

Unpairing Apple Watch Directly on Smartwatch

  • Open Settings page by tapping the gear-shaped icon directly from the home screen of your wearable device.
  • Next, hit the General Settings.
  • Then, choose the Reset tab there.
  • After that, hit the option “Erase all Contents and Settings.”
  • Now, write your secured passcode if activated.
  • Then, press the Erase All tab.

Note: In case you have a cellular plan and if any reason you wish to keep the same, then hit the “Erase All and Keep Plan.”

  • Wait for a little as your Apple Watch starts restoring procedure.
  • Once it finishes the restoration task, visit the site of iCloud at “iCloud.com” directly from any browser on your PC to deactivate Activation Lock.
  • Then, log in to your Apple ID and secured passcode.
  • Then, press the Settings option.
  • Choose your Apple Watch located under the option “My Devices.”
  • After that, press the Cross signed icon parked just after the Apple Watch logo to remove the same.
  • Then, hit the Remove tab to confirm your decision.

Unpairing a device isn't very straightforward as one needs to perform several operations such as backing up important data, resetting its system encryption such as lock or screen password. If it comes to the wearable device, then you need to take a full back-up of your data.
