How to Scan Documents on Your iPhone and iPad

Using the Notes App

A document scanner is hidden in the Notes app which is a very convenient option to save time and money. All you have to do is a couple of clicks, and you'll be done. The steps to scan your documents using the Notes app on your iPhone and iPad are:

  1. Launch the 'Notes' app on your iPhone and iPad.
  2. Make a new note by clicking on the 'New Note' icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Else, you can open an existing note.
  3. Click on the 'Camera' option in the notes window.
  4. A pop-up menu will open. Select the 'Scan Documents' option.
  5. Place the document on a flat surface.
  6. Position the camera, and it'll start scanning automatically. In case the camera doesn't scan itself, click on the shutter icon.Note: You'll have to scan each document individually.
  7. Once you've scanned the document, hit the 'Save' button at the bottom of the screen.

All the scanned documents will appear in a new note.

Using the Files App

iOS 13 has made scanning documents on your Apple device easy and convenient. Not only scan, but you can sign the documents and send them to others as well. All you have to do is make sure that you're logged in with an iCloud account and the Drive is accessible from your iPhone and PC.

The steps to scan your documents using the Files app on your iPhone and iPad are:

  1. Launch the 'Files' app on your iPhone and iPad.
  2. Select the location of iCloud Drive.
  3. Swipe from top to bottom of the screen and click on the 'Ellipsis' icon.
  4. Tap on the 'New Folder' option and assign a name.
  5. Hit the 'Done' button.
  6. Next, open the new folder and tap on the Ellipses icon to bring up more options.
  7. Select the 'Scan Documents' option.
  8. The Camera app will open up. Position the camera, and it'll start scanning automatically. In case the camera doesn't scan itself, click on the shutter icon.
  9. Once you've scanned a document, hit the 'Save' button.

Once the document is scanned and saved, it'll appear in the folder you created in iCloud Drive.
