The Boss Baby

The most awaited sequel film’s release date, The Boss Baby: Family Business, is again delayed for six months.

Tom McGrath’s The Boss Baby: Family Business (aka The Boss Baby 2) is an American 3D animated comedy movie. The film is the sequel of the 2017 movie The Boss Baby franchise. Alec Baldwin voiced the Theodore Lindsey alongside James Marsden as Timothy Leslie, Amy Sedaris as Tina Templeton/New Boss Baby, Lisa Kudrow as Janice Templeton, Ted Jr. and Tim’s mother, Jimmy Kimmel as Ted Templeton Sr., Ted Jr. and Tim’s father, Amy Sedaris, and Jeff Goldblum.

The movie’s plot follows Tim and his brother Ted. Both are adults now and living their own lives. Ted has become the CEO of the hedge fund, and Tim is a married man with a kid. Their cutting edge approach brings the two brothers together.

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation announced the film on 25 May 2017. They also revealed the release date of the movie on 26 March 2021. Baldwin reprises his role from the original movie. Whereas other actors, including Marsden, Longoria, Goldblum, and Sedaris, joined the cast on 17 September 2020. However, the release date was later delayed to 17 September 2021 in the United States and took over The Bad Guys’ release date.

The 2017 movie The Boss Baby was positively accepted by the audience and the critics. It received many nominations at the Golden Globes, Academy Awards, and Annie Awards. The movie collected a gross of $528 million worldwide against the production budget of $125 million. It got an approval rating of 53% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 5.50/10 based on 179 reviews. It scored 50 on the Metacritic on 32 critics.

The release date’s delay makes complete sense as the theaters are closed for significant times of the year. And in many countries, the cases of the coronavirus are again increasing, which might furthermore enforce lockdown. The distributor and the producer want to make the movie’s maximum sale and hence decided to wait until the moviegoers feel safe and comfortable to come back to the theaters.

Hopefully, the team would be ready by September 2021, unless the release might delay to 2022. The news of the COVID-19 vaccine is the only ray of hope, and it is being assumed that the audience will be safe to enjoy the family-friendly animated movie at the end of 2021.
